The Drain Office is divided organizationally into three divisions.
Administrative personnel provide rate setting, compliance programs such as Confined Space Entry and work with individual units regarding budget and staffing, equipment and facility needs. In addition, all ISO-related activities are coordinated through this team to ensure that the entire organization lives up to its goal of continuous improvement. The executive functions of the drain commissioner are included as part of the Administration to ensure consistency in directing initiatives throughout the organization.
Engineering and Construction is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of new storm drains, sanitary sewers, water main, wastewater treatment facilities and lake level control structures.
Operations and Maintenance operates and maintains all drains, sewer systems, water supply systems, well water facilities, sewage pumping facilities and treatment plants.
GIS and IT Support staff work under the Administrative Division and provide maps and relevant digital information about the Oakland County's storm drains, water systems and sewage systems. The digital information is an integral component of the County's Geographic Information System (GIS) and allows for information to be utilized in an office as well as field crews in the field on site. Additionally, they provide technical support to the entire Drain staff and work closely with Oakland County's Information Technology (IT) Department to provide technology components and training.
