Pre-Formal Hearing

A pre-formal hearing is a civil infraction hearing assigned to a judge's docket. The defendant's attorney will meet with the city attorney or prosecutor and attempt to resolve the case without appearing before the judge. If the case is not resolved at this stage, the case will be scheduled for a formal hearing.
