Offenses punishable by fine or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both, are misdemeanors. Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), Driving While License Suspended (DWLS), Assault and Battery, Domestic Violence and Possession of Marijuana are examples of misdemeanor offenses handled at the district court.
