The 48th District Court's jurisdiction covers the Charter Townships of Bloomfield and West Bloomfield and the Cities of Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake Village and Sylvan Lake.

The 48th District Court Judges are Honorable Marc Barron, Honorable Diane D' Agostini and Honorable Kimberly Small. The Court Administrator/Clerk of the Court, James P. Harkins, Jr., administers operations and the Court's four primary divisions.

• Traffic Division: Processes traffic citations written by the police departments.
  
• Civil Division: Handles cases that involve money or damage claims, and landlord/tenant disputes.
  
• Criminal Division: Handles all criminal cases prosecuted by state law prosecutors and ordinance prosecutors. Cases involve felony and misdemeanor offenses.
  
• Probation Department: Responsible for the supervision of probationers, conducting pre-sentence investigations, alcohol assessments and probation violation hearings.
