RESULTS Drug & Alcohol Testing

Pretrial - Sentenced - Felony - Misdemeanor

Mission Statement: To provide professional and courteous drug testing services and the most accurate and reliable test results to our clients, agents and courts.

In 2000, the RESULTS Drug and Alcohol Testing Unit was created to meet the increasing demands for an affordable and effective tool to monitor court ordered abstinence from substances of abuse. Clients can be referred for testing during pretrial release as a condition of bond or sentenced as a condition of probation.

Using a random color/letter testing system this program administers urine and alcohol screens for the detection of illegal use of substances as ordered by the court. Clients are assigned a color for drug testing and/or a letter for alcohol testing pursuant to the frequency ordered by the court or referring agent. Clients are required to call the RESULTS hotline at 248-975-9662 daily to hear the colors and letters for that day. If the client's color and/or letter is indicated on the hotline, the client must report for testing that day.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

Drug Tests - Drug test screens are conducted by collecting urine samples and analyzing the sample using an immunoassay testing technique (EMIT). All urine samples are initially screened for dilution and/or adulterants. RESULTS follows drug cut-off levels in compliance with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Positive drug test results are automatically confirmed by performing a second immunoassay screen on the urine sample.

Alcohol Testing - PBTs are conducted on-site for alcohol testing.  Clients that are to submit to random alcohol testing must test at one of our sites.  However, if they are unable to report to one of the sites, their PBT Log (file 104k) size must be faxed to one of the sites by 6 a.m. the following business day.

Test Results - Courts and probation staff receive weekly compliance reports as well as notification of any positive test results within 48 hours of a test result.

In 2005, RESULTS secured the V-Twin® System through Dade Behring Syva*. Syva's EMIT® reagents are the most widely used and extensively validated in the industry and are found in more than 85% of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Authority labs. In fact, the EMIT® method is the only drug test to have been acknowledged by the U.S. Supreme Court as part of a highly accurate drug testing program. Ever since its introduction in 1972, EMIT® assays have been well respected in the worldwide scientific community. For further information regarding Dade Behring, please visit www.dadebehring.com.
