What is a dilute sample?
A dilute sample is a sample that does not have a normal creatinine level. If you provide a dilute sample, you are given two additional attempts to provide a valid sample.

How do I know when I am supposed to test?
All participants of the RESULTS program are assigned a color for drug testing and a letter for alcohol testing. Once set up with your color and/or letter, you will be required to call the RESULTS Hotline (248.975.9662) daily after 7:30 a.m. to listen for the colors/letters required to submit to test that day.

What do the test results mean?
A positive result means that drug is present in the urine sample at a level above or equal to the amount of drug in the calibrator. A negative result means that either there is no drug present in the urine sample, or the level is below that of the calibrator.

Are EMIT assay results admissible as evidence?
Yes, to be admissible, a scientific principle or technology must be generally accepted in the scientific community. Scientific studies show that EMIT drug assays are among the most consistently accurate drug testing method in current use.

Do results have to be confirmed by an alternative test method?
It is recommended that initial positive test results be confirmed by a scientifically accepted alternative urine testing technology, however, most courts have recognized that for disciplinary hearing, unconfirmed EMIT test results run twice, known as double EMIT testing, accurately meet the standard of substantial evidence.

Can second-hand smoke cause a client to test positive by an Emit Cannabanoid test?
Such positives are possible, however, studies indicate that exposure to what is called side stream smoke must be so intense that it would be difficult to encounter such exposure in real-life situations. Studies simulating the exposure conditions in actual situations, such as parties, produce levels far below designated cut off levels.

What is Creatinine?
Creatinine excretion is related to the muscle mass of the human body and is usually consistent. Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines state that urine specimens with creatinine levels of less than 20 mg/dl are indications of an attempt to deliberately dilute a specimen.

Will the referring agent be notified if a client does not show for a scheduled test?
No Shows will appear on the Weekly Report that is faxed to the referring agent each Friday.

How does the referring agent change a clients testing frequency?
Call, fax or e-mail the RESULTS program regarding the change. At the clients next scheduled test date the client will sign for a new color and/or letter based on the frequency requested.
