How do I post bond for a person incarcerated?

It is possible at times to post bond after arrest and before the arraignment. Contact the arresting police agency to see if there is a bond. If there is no bond then the defendant will be arraigned by the court. After the arraignment, bond can be posted at the district court during the courts business hours, or at the Oakland County Jail if the defendant is held there, twenty-four hours a day. Bonds can typically be paid by cash or credit card. Please contact the court or sheriff department for specific payment options and credit card fees.

I am an attorney and I would like to request a copy of a Pretrial Services Bond Report or Preliminary Sentencing Guideline Score. How do I do so?

You may contact our Oakland County Jail Office at 248-452-2155, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. You must identify yourself and provide your bar number. The Pretrial Services Bond Report (which includes the defendant's criminal history) and Preliminary Sentencing Guideline Score can be faxed to your office.

I posted bond but was ordered by the judge or magistrate to conditional release. What should I do next or who should I contact?

If you were ordered by the judge, magistrate or a probation officer, you must follow any instructions verbally given or stated in writing on your bond order. Do not wait for one of these programs to contact you. You are responsible for compliance with your conditional release.
