Pink for a Cause!

Three Clerk/Register employees show their pink!Oakland County, Michigan, October 13, 2006 -- Visitors to the Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Office on Thursdays during October will notice a lot of the employees are 'in the pink'.

As part of National Breast Cancer Awarenees Month, employees are paying $5 for the privilege of dressing 'casual' to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

As part of this year's "Passionately Pink for the Cure" campaign, employees are asked to dress in pink and wear "Sharing the Promise" bracelets.

More than 211,000 women and 1,720 men are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. More than 41,0000 people will die from breast cancer this year.

Stephanie Schroeder, Chief Deputy Clerk who heads up the Legal Division, said employees have already raised nearly $1,000.

"We've been doing it for four or five years now," said Schroeder. "The employees are great - they get into the spirit of it. A lot of us are women and there is the feeling that we are all in this together."
