Reminder: Candidate Deadline for August 8 Primary Election

Oakland County, Michigan, May 8, 2006 -- Republicans and Democrats interested in running for federal, state and county offices in the Aug. 8 Primary Election must file as a candidate by Tuesday, May 16, said Ruth Johnson, Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds.

Candidates must file nominating petitions or applicable fees and the required Affidavit of Identity.

Voters will consider primary candidates in the governor's race, as well as candidates for U.S. senator, U.S. representative, state senator, state representative and 25 Oakland County Board of Commissioners. Commissioners serve two-year terms.

In addition, voters will consider municipal office candidates and proposals as well as judicial candidates for the state Court of Appeals and the Oakland County Probate and Circuit courts.
