Mock Election Successful - Test to prepare for Presidential Primary Goes Smoothly
Oakland County, Michigan, Thursday, December 20, 2007 -- Ruth Johnson, the Oakland County Clerk/Register, said a test today of the county's Election Reporting System went very smoothly.
Every community that participated in the mock election was able to electronically send vote totals to the county's database via secure phone lines. The results are compiled and displayed on the county's web site at www.oakgov.com/clerkrod.
"The presidential primary will be the first countywide election for the system," Johnson said. "It was a dry run to make sure things runs properly and they did."
The primary also represents the first time the county prepared its own ballot programming, something previously supplied by an outside vendor. The change will save the county and local communities a combined total of $180,000 annually.
