Press Release

Village Election Results to be Posted Online

Oakland County, Michigan, Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 -- For the first time ever, the results of village elections will be posted on the county's web site, announced Ruth Johnson, Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds.

"We're very happy to provide this convenience to village residents, candidates and the media," said Johnson. "Our updated technology makes it possible for us to provide nearly up-to-the-minute updates from those communities."

The Oakland County Elections Division recently began offering ballot layout and programming services to local communities. This initiative will save the county and local communities a combined total of nearly $200,000 annually, Johnson said, as well as make it easier to offer online election result reporting for smaller elections that were previously not posted.

Voters in seven villages - Bingham Farms, Franklin, Holly, Lake Orion, Milford, Ortonville and Oxford, as well as residents of the city of Rochester Hills  - will be going to the polls tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 11.) There are 65,203 registered voters in those communities.

Election results will be posted at www.oakgov.com/clerkrod. Users may click on the Election Division to monitor updated vote totals for candidates and ballot questions. Vote totals will also be available by precinct.
