Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Office Rallies for Pistons
Oakland County, Michigan, Thursday, May 31 -- The Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Office wore its love for the Detroit Pistons on its sleeve Thursday as employees competed in a Pistons Spirit Day.
The special casual day - with the Pistons' motif - raised money for a children's program through the Clerk/Register Office. Employees paid $1 to dress in the sports-themed gear.
"The Pistons bring people together and it's good for the community to root them on," said Ruth Johnson, Oakland County Clerk/Register. "They don't ever give up. They play as hard as they can - that kind of fighting spirit sets a tone for the state."
Employees wore homemade signs, Pistons tattoos, face painting, jerseys, necklaces, earrings and even a Pistons backpack to show their spirit.
Wendy Potts, Oakland Circuit Court's chief judge, graciously agreed to judge the contest. The winner was Brenda Johnson of the Clerk's Legal Division.
