Christopher Ward

Deputy Clerk/Register of Deeds

A former state lawmaker, Ward served as both the minority and majority floor leader during his tenure in the Michigan House of Representatives (2002-2008.)

The former chairman of the House Ethics and Elections Committee, Ward led efforts to tighten state government ethics policies, reform Michigan’s campaign finance reporting laws and consolidate school elections to save money and improve voter turnout. Today, two-thirds of Oakland County school districts have combined their elections with local and state elections, saving an estimated $770,000 tax dollars a year.

Ward, who served on the Health Policy, Regulatory Reform, Transportation,
Higher Education, the Natural Resources and Land use committees, was voted the most effective legislator in the House. (MIRS Poll 2003)

He is the former clerk for the Brighton Charter Township and served as a Brighton Township Trustee.
