Christopher Ward
Deputy Clerk/Register of DeedsMr. Ward is continuing his service as Deputy Clerk/Register which began under Ruth Johnson, now Michigan's Secretary of State. He is the former clerk for the Charter Township of Brighton and is a Certified Municipal Clerk as recognized by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. A former state lawmaker, Mr. Ward served as both the minority and majority floor leader during his tenure in the Michigan House of Representatives (2002-2008). The former chairman of the House Ethics and Elections Committee, Mr. Ward led efforts to tighten state government ethics policies, reform Michigan's campaign finance reporting laws and consolidate school elections to save money and improve voter turnout. Today, all but one Oakland County school district has combined their elections with local and state elections, saving an estimated $1 million tax dollars a year. Mr. Ward, who served on the Health Policy, Regulatory Reform, Transportation, Higher Education, the Natural Resources and Land use committees, was voted the most effective legislator in the House (MIRS Poll 2003). Mr. Ward, who has three children, resides in the Clarkston area.
