Children's Village School (CVS) is a K-12 school program that provides a broad range of educational services delivered by the Waterford School District via a contract with the Oakland County.
Since 1988, CVS has been accredited through the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is involved in the Outcomes Evaluation Model, which identifies areas of need and sets up processes to fulfill them resulting in a quality program.
All courses are fully accredited and transferable to home school districts.
Students receive instruction in core curriculum classes of English/language arts, science/health, social studies and mathematics. Enrichment classes include computer technology, personal adjustment, physical education and art. The Waterford School District curriculum provides the necessary knowledge and skills needed to fulfill adult roles.
Student recognition is an important element within this learning environment. Accolades such as the honor roll, student of the week, student of the month, book-it, and positive behavior slips are given to those individuals who have earned these awards.
Student assistance is enhanced by the Title I reading and math program, designed for students who are three or more years below grade level, which provides instruction that builds the student's current level of skill.
Teacher aides work in classrooms supporting students, as well as one-on-one tutoring.
The Special Education program used at CVS is the inclusionary model in which students are integrated in regular classrooms based on their abilities. Goals and objectives are reviewed annually, and all Special Education rules and procedures are strictly adhered to with each student.
