Learn how to determine:
What you can afford,
how much down payment you will need, and
how to improve your credit.
Our councelors will also explain the differences between various types of mortgages, how to apply for a mortgage and how it is reviewed. Factors in picking a type of home and neighborhood are covered as well as how to work with a realtor, how to make an offer on a home, and what the closing process is all about.

Many senior citizens have a lot of value in their homes but not enough income to pay property taxes, keep up on home repairs, or maintain their life style. There is a loan regulated by the Federal Government called a reverse mortgage that might solve this problem for you. This loan does not need to be repaid as long as you continue to live in your home. Homeowners must be at least 62 years old.
The Oakland County Housing Counselor will explain this program to you and your family without charge or obligation. Call 248-858-5402 for an appointment.
