Quality of Life -- Education
 The Education Subcommittee is examining two key issues: Early Childhood Education and School Dropouts. The quality of early care and education in our county has far-reaching effects. The care and education young children receive has a direct correlation to their ability to contribute in a positive way to the workforce as adults. According to the Highpoint Study, for each dollar spent on high-quality early childhood education, $17 is saved on welfare, prison, and remedial education costs. -more-
The Education Subcommittee is researching "best practice" early childhood programs. Their goal is to increase the number of affordable, accredited, and high quality early childhood education programs in Oakland County.

In order to better understand local feelings about Oakland County's high school graduation rates, the Subcommittee spearheaded a survey of local businesses about issues surrounding high school graduation. Survey responses are being evaluated.
