Parks and Recreation Commission



The Parks and Recreation Commission was established pursuant to the Michigan Compiled Law, MCL 46.351. The Commission’s purpose is to preserve park land and to create recreational, leisure, and learning experiences for county residents.

The Commission consists of 10 members: the Road Commissioner for Oakland County, the Drain Commissioner, a member of the Regional Planning Agency, and seven members appointed by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, not more than three of whom shall be members of the Board of Commissioners.

Members serve 3-year terms. They receive a $35 per diem and county allowance mileage reimbursement. Meetings are normally scheduled on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 9:00 a.m., at the Parks Commission Administrative Offices, at 2800 Watkins Lake Road, in Waterford, Michigan.
