Friend of the Court Citizens Advisory Committee

The Friend of the Court Citizens Advisory Committee was established by Public Act No. 366 of 1996,  and is advisory only. The purpose of the Committee is to review and investigate grievances concerning the Friend of the Court pursuant to the Michigan Compiled Law, M.C.L. 552.504a, and M.C.L. 552.526.

The Committee is comprised of 9 members.  They are: the Sheriff or designee, the Prosecuting Attorney or designee, the Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services Agency or designee, a Non-custodial parent, a Custodial parent, a Family Law Practice Attorney,  a mental health professional who provides family counseling, and two members of the general public.

Members serve 3- year terms as outlined in M.C.L. 552.504.  The Committee meets at least 6 times each year.
