Commissioner Karen Spector is married  to West Bloomfield Trustee Robert Spector. She has two married children and five grandchildren. She is a former Royal Oak teacher and business woman.

Commissioner Spector is a member of NOW, WAND ORT, Hadassah, Lakes Democratic Club, and the Temple Israel Sisterhood.
