Commissioner Michael J. Gingell is married  to Karen and has 2 children  He graduated from Oakland University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He also earned  a Master of Business Administration Degree from Wayne State University.

Commissioner Gingell is Vice President for R.L. Polk & Company, an automotive information company, and was the recipient of the  2006 Automotive Hall of Fame Young Leadership & Excellence Award.
