Personal:

Prior to serving on the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Taub raised a family, managed a small business and taught school. She served in various elected and appointed positions for 26 years as a member of Cranbrook School's parent organizations, on the Cranbrook Strategic Planning Committee, and was one of the founders of "Le Gala de Cuisine" (annual Cranbrook fundraising event).

She earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and did graduate work in Missouri and Kansas, where she taught 5th and 6th grades. Taub also managed a medical practice for 30 years.

Commissioner Taub has written policies urging the state to end the spending gap and pay for unfunded mandates, cut over $3.5 million from the County budget as Chair of the Employee's Suggestion Program and authored legislation amending Children Protection Laws giving Probate Court access to the records of child molesters. She supported placing warrant teleconferencing units in every police department in the County and laptop computers with mug shot and fingerprint capability in every police car.

She established the first Crisis Center in the County for persons with mental illness and developmental disabilities and wrote the first draft of the first Domestic Violence Handbook. She chaired the first Children's Summit in the state and produced a national award-winning booklet about the development of an infant's brain, "Their Life is in Our Hands."

She is married to Dr. Steffan Taub. They have three children and five grandchildren.
