The VFAA PAN Exhibit at the Oakland County Galleria

Pontiac, Michigan (May 5, 2005) The Office of Arts, Culture & Film presents The Village Fine Art Association PAN Exhibit in the Oakland County Galleria. The exhibit features artwork that was a part of the VFAAs Poetry Art Night Coffeehouse. All of the juried fine art on display was inspired by or related to a poem displayed with it. Many of the poems, as well as the fine art, were created especially for PAN.  The exhibit will be on display until May 25, 2005.

Laura Whiteside Host, a founding member of the Laurence Street Gallery and instructor at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, judged the artwork for the event. Staci Miron received the VFAA Award of Excellence for her painting Spinal Entropy Diptych. The VFAA Choice Award was given to Mary Bajcz for her textile piece Rainy Day. Yellow Roses, a pastel by Sarah Schrift, received the VFAA Merit Award. Colleen Reader, poetry juror and widely published poet, awarded Suzanne Haskew with the Milford Township Library Award I for her poem Homage to Hemingway. The Milford Township Library Award II was given to Martin Dahlgren for his work The Great Turtle. Michele Carolin-Roger was awarded the Joy Humanist Award for her poem Little Surprises.

The Village Fine Art Association was established as a non-profit organization in March of 1992. The VFAA is made up of over 60 artists, poets, musicians and art lovers. They host instructive and informative monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Milford Presbyterian Church. The association takes pleasure in presenting art fairs during the summer in Milfords Central Park. Recognized by both the Village and the Township of Milford as the official art organization for the area, the VFAA conducts educational and cultural arts programs for the members and the civilians of the greater Huron Valley.

The Village Fine Art Association PAN Exhibit will be on display in the County Galleria, in the Oakland County Executive Building, Building 34 East on the County campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac.
