The Alfred P. Sloan Museum
Pontiac, Michigan (February 9, 2005) The Office of Arts, Culture & Film presents a lecture by Jeff Taylor curator Alfred P. Sloan Museum on Thursday, February 17, 2005, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall.
Mr. Taylors presentation will focus on the Museum and cultural events happening in the Flint area. Regional history, historic automobiles and hands-on science are major features of the Sloan Museum. The Science Discovery Center allows children and adults to explore principles of chemistry and physics through exhibit and staff presentations. The Hometown Gallery invites visitors to explore the 19th century with interactive hands on activities in three historic settings. The Pierson Automotive Gallery presents major automotive exhibits featuring vehicles from the Sloan fleet of over 80 Flint-built automobiles. The Sloan Museum's Buick Gallery and Research Center features nearly 30 vintage, experimental and prototype Buicks, Chevrolets, and other Flint-built automobiles. Adjacent to the Buick Gallery is Sloan Museum's Perry Archives. The Archives houses a wide array of photographs, records, and objects chronicling the people and history of Flint and Genesee County, Michigan.
