Brown Bag Lecture Presentation by Pat Mckay and the Rochester Grangers - Vintage Base Ball

Pontiac, Michigan (May 8, 2006) Oakland County Arts & Culture presents a lecture by Pat Barnraiser McKay, Director of the Rochester Hills Museum  at Van Hoosen Farm, on May 18, 2006, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall.

Americas pastime has come a long way over the years. The Vintage Base Ball Association is an organization that strives to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the game of base ball according to nineteenth century rules and regulations. There is no heckling of players, no swearing or any spitting whatsoever. The game is played with dignity, skill, and mutual respect for both teams. Even the umpire is thought of as a trusted friend. The Rochester Grangers, a local vintage base ball team, keeps everything from the phrases, customs and uniforms as they were according to the rules of 1864. Their goal is to educate people as to how the game was played and provide an interpretation of the era. Join us for this months Brown Bag to meet the players, learn about the original game of Base Ball, and to witness the past in action. No heckling please.

The presentation will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2006, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall, Building 49 West on the County campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac. For further information contact Kristie Everett Zamora, Coordinator of Arts & Culture.
