Pontiac, Michigan (October 3, 2005) – The Office of Arts, Culture & Film presents a lecture by Mary Andrews, Quilt Artist and Curator, on October 20, 2005, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall. She will speak about quilt making as an art and the Michigan Quilt Artist Invitational Exhibition.
The Michigan Quilt Artist Invitational brings selected quilters together to promote freedom of expression, experimentation, and individual style among the participants. These artists have demonstrated their commitment to using the quilt from as a vehicle for visual expression. Exploring Africa was the theme of this year’s exhibit and all 47 quilt artists that participated were encouraged to take their own personal safari into African inspiration as they each designed their quilt for the exhibit. Exploring Africa will be on display at the Oakland County Galleria, in the Executive Office, Building 34 East, until October 28, 2005.
The presentation will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2005, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall, Building 49 West on the County campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac.
