Murano: Glass from the Spanu Collection

Pontiac, Michigan (December 1, 2004) – The Office of Arts, Culture & Film presents a lecture by Detroit Institute of Arts Speaker’s Bureau on Murano: Glass from the Spanu Collection on Thursday, December 16, 2004, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall.

The presentation will give a comprehensive look at the art of Venetian glass making in the 20th Century. It will explore the distinct artistic nature and characteristics of the glass, while keeping in mind its relation to international design. Approximately 300 outstanding examples of blown Venetian glass are currently on display at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The presentation will take place on Thursday, December 16, 2004, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall, Building 49 West on the County campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac.
