Meadow Brook Hall
Meadow Brook Hall is often described as an American castle. It is the former residence of Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred Wilson. Designed by the Detroit architectural firm of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls, the 110-room, Tudor-Revival style mansion was inspired by English country manor houses of the Tudor and Elizabethan periods. Meadow Brook Hall is especially renowned for its fine craftsmanship, exquisite architectural detailing and grand scale. Listed on both the national and state registers of historic properties, Meadow Brook Hall strives to preserve and interpret its buildings, gardens, and decorative and fine art so that visitors may be entertained, educated, and inspired by its history.
