Pontiac, Michigan (June 8, 2004) -- The Office of Arts, Culture & Film presents a lecture demonstration by Anne and Rob Burns entitled Popular Music of the Renaissance on Thursday, June 17, 2004, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall.
The focal point of their presentation is the performance of music from the Renaissance, on copies of instruments from that period. The program features recorder, lute, Renaissance guitar, and a variety of percussion instruments.
Anne and Rob Burns each received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Early Music from Oakland University. They specialize in the music of the late English and European Renaissance, from the years 1550 to 1650. As a duo they've adopted the name A Reasonable Facsimile, which derives from their goal to present Renaissance music as authentically as possible. A Reasonable Facsimile has produced two albums to date.
Rob and Anne are long time performers of early music. They've performed at the New Year's Fest of Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Michigan Renaissance Festival, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, the Boston Early Music Festival, the Detroit Institute of Arts Brunch with Bach Series, and for school children in Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Massachusetts and throughout Michigan.
The presentation will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2004, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall, Building 49 West on the County campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac.
