The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center
Pontiac, Michigan (March 10, 2005) The Office of Arts, Culture & Film presents a lecture by Jane Linn, the Executive Director of The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, on March 17, 2005, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall.
Ms. Linns presentation will focus on The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center and art education. The mission of the BBAC, a non-profit regional art center, is to enhance the life in our region by promoting the appreciation, understanding and practice of the Arts. Founded in 1957 by a group of concerned citizens interested in providing cultural opportunities to their community, it has grown into a major arts facility in southeastern Michigan. The Art Center, dedicated to teaching the visual arts through active participation, offers studio classes, workshops, and art history classes to students from preschool through adult levels. Instructors are prominent regional artists offering their expertise in fine arts, design, crafts, art history and aesthetics. Art Camps are offered for children in grades 1-8 during school breaks and throughout the summer. A new summer program, Young Artist Workshops, for children in middle school is now offered each August.
The presentation will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2005, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall, Building 49 West on the County campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac.
