Office of Arts and Culture Grant Programs

The Office of Arts, Culture & Film proudly administrates the following grant programs that are listed below. Click on each one for more information.

Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs Regional Minigrant

 

Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs Regional Minigrant

Funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and administered by 19 regional regranting agencies across the state. The Office of Arts, Culture & Film administers the program for Oakland county.

Eligibility:
Non-profit organizations in Oakland County planning an arts or cultural event. Applicants must have non-profit status as evidenced through an Internal Revenue Service letter of determination, i.e., 501(c) (3), or State of Michigan Certificate of Incorporation.

Grant Amount:
Applicants may request up to $4,000 on a matching basis of applicant cash and/or in-kind (value of donated goods/services). Requests for minigrant funds may not exceed one-half of the projects cost. The total amount available to grant is determined yearly.

Emphasis:
Locally developed, high quality arts projects that are special opportunities to address local arts needs and increase public access to the arts. Minigrants support a broad range of projects which preserve, produce or present the traditional or contemporary arts that employ Michigan artists, such as, exhibits, performances, readings, workshops, festivals, pow-wows, art activities for students, other arts and cultural activities.

Application Evaluation:
Each evaluation is discussed, evaluated and scored according to the program criteria, by a panel representing different parts of the region or areas of discipline.

Application Availability & Deadline:

Evaluation of minigrant applications will take place in two rounds. The current deadlines are as follows:

Round One - Application Deadline:
July 1, 2007
For Projects Occurring:
October 1, 2007 - September 20, 2008

Round Two - Application Deadline:
February 1, 2008
For Projects Occurring:
April 1, 2008 - September 30, 2008

Assistance: 
Workshops are held one month prior to each application deadline.
