County Executive and Crim Fitness Foundation Officials to Unveil Logo and Race Course for Inaugural Brooksie Way Half Marathon at Historic Meadow Brook Hall
Waterford, Michigan - Jan. 2, 2008 - Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and representatives from the Crim Fitness Foundation in Flint will formally unveil the logo, website and identify the race course for the inaugural Brooksie Way Half Marathon at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, in the ballroom of Meadow Brook Hall on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester Hills.
Patterson is also expected to announce several key race sponsors. Course maps and copies of the logo, which was created by Ford & Earl Associates of Troy, will be available for the media. The Brooksie Way includes a 5K race/walk and be part of the official Crim Training Program, which begins May 1 in Oakland and Genesee counties.
The 13.1 mile race is set for Oct. 5 and named in honor of Brooks Stuart Patterson, who died after a snowmobiling accident in February. The county executive had announced plans for a half marathon in his 2007 State of the County address several weeks before the accident.
The Crim Fitness Foundation, which is partnering with Oakland County, has hosted the Crim Festival of Races in Flint for more than 30 years. The 2007 races in Flint drew more than 15,000 participants and is one of the leading road races in the United States.
