Oakland County Offers Employee Training Opportunities to Local Communities
Pontiac, MI, January 7, 2008 – Oakland County is launching a new program this month to assist the County’s 61 cities, villages and townships (CVTs) with employee development.
Oakland County is a recognized leader in inter-governmental or cross boundary collaboration (CBC) across the state of Michigan, a concept which has become a valuable tool in helping local communities do more with less in an environment of budget tightening and declining revenues.
The Oakland County Human Resources Department is inviting local communities to participate in training courses at a low cost.
“We view employee training and skill development as a means by which organizations can find new and innovative ways to get their work done in an efficient manner while at the same time maintaining or improving current service levels,” said Human Resources Director Nancy Scarlet.
Feedback from a survey conducted in the spring of 2007 found many local communities expressing interest in a training program geared toward employee development.
“This is a great program that will tremendously benefit our CVTs in these challenging economic times,” said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.
The list of courses available to local CVTs includes training for supervisors and general audiences in the areas of Communication, Collaboration, and Management.
