Radio Disney Performers to Headline 2007 Count Your Steps Finale

Pontiac, MI, April 26, 2007 – Radio Disney (AM 910) singers and dancers will take the stage at St. Fabian Elementary School, 32200 West 12-Mile Road in Farmington Hills on Wednesday, May 2nd at 10:00 a.m. to officially bring the curtain down on the 2007 Count Your Steps program with a rousing Rockin’ Recess Party of interactive music, games, contests and prizes.

An assembly of more than 400 students will be on hand for the celebration which will culminate with the announcement of the top performing school districts, schools, classrooms and students in this year’s pedometer walking program.

Count Your Steps sponsors have also been invited to attend this event.  Platinum sponsors for Count Your Steps are: General Motors; Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan and POH Medical Center.  Gold sponsors are: HealthPlus of Michigan and Radio Disney (AM 910). Supporting sponsors are: Rock Financial; Henry Ford Health Systems; HAP; Oakland County Health Division; Oakland County Parks; Oakland County Public/Private Charter Schools and Channel 20 in Detroit.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson founded Count Your Steps four years ago to address the growing national problem of childhood obesity.  He became alarmed upon seeing a statistic that this generation of young people might become the first generation in history not to outlive their parents. 

Since the program started in 2004, more than 120,000 third and fourth grade students in over 200 schools throughout Oakland County have participated.
