Government Technology Magazine Names Patterson and Bertolini to Top 25 List
Pontiac, MI, March 13, 2007 – Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and Deputy County Executive/CIO Phil Bertolini have made Government Technology Magazine’s list of the Top 25 individuals in the nation for “pushing the boundaries of government as usual.”
“Mr. Patterson and Mr. Bertolini were selected to be in the Top 25 because of their track record of successful, high profile information technology projects that not only create better service for Oakland County residents, but also lead to more efficient government operations,” said Steve Towns, editor of Government Technology. “We thought the work done by them – everything from the long standing CLEMIS (Courts and Law Enforcement Management Information System) project to the new Wireless Oakland initiative – clearly fits that description.”
Towns says there is no formal nomination process for the Top 25 program. Instead, he notes, the list is compiled by the magazine’s top editors as well as the leaders of the Center for Digital Government and Technology conferences.
“This award belongs to all 4,500 of our employees who have enhanced the technology and moved our county into a world leadership position,” Patterson said.
Government Technology Magazine’s criteria for selecting the Top 25 include:
- Nominees needed to demonstrate e-government leadership that significantly changed the landscape of their jurisdiction
- Their efforts must have served as a model for other jurisdictions
- They had to be visionaries who embrace innovation
Their work must have positively impacted government operations and served constituents of their jurisdictions
Government Technology Magazine is a national publication with a circulation of 79,007.
