Mothers, Daughters, and Leaders of Oakland County
Pontiac, Michigan – March 12, 2007 - The Office of Arts & Culture presents the lecture, “Mothers, Daughters, and Leaders of Oakland County,” by Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm’s Interpretive Specialist, Michelle Akers-Berg, on Thursday, March 15, 2007, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall.
Ms. Akers-Berg will speak about the exhibition on display at the Rochester Hills Museum. Learn about the world-renowned surgeon from Stony Creek Village, the slave who purchased land from the founder of Pontiac, the soprano soloist who spent months performing for Holocaust survivors, and many other incredible women of Oakland County.
The Rochester Hills Museum exhibit also presents historic women’s events from a national and statewide perspective, spanning from women’s suffrage to the first female governor of Michigan. Personal objects from the local women showcased and an area for visitors to name the extraordinary women in their lives is provided.
The presentation is March 15, 2007, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Oakland County Lecture Hall, Building 49 West on the county campus at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, in Pontiac. Admission is free.
