Little Oaks Scholarships Awarded

Pontiac, MI, January 2, 2007 -- Little Oaks Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Little Oaks Childcare Center which serves the children of Oakland County government employees, has awarded scholarships to two deserving families.

After receiving final approval from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, each of the families that were selected on the basis of financial need, will receive $1,500 paid out in three installments. In addition, Friends of Little Oaks is providing a $25 credit toward the annual activity fee charged to each family.

"This scholarship program has helped a number of our lower paid employees to defray the cost of childcare so their children can enjoy the many benefits of Little Oaks," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

Funding for the scholarship program is provided through a variety of fundraising events such as the holiday ham sale, annual spring flower sale, entertainment book sale, casual day and donations.
