Patterson to Honor Three Outstanding Citizens At 14th Annual Quality People, Quality County Awards Breakfast

Public Date: 09/27/2006

Pontiac, MI, September 27, 2006 -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will present three individuals with his annual Quality People, Quality County (Q2) Awards for extraordinary service to the community on Tuesday, October 3rd.

Rajendra Vattikuti, founder, President and CEO of Covansys Corporation; 52-4 District Court Judge Michael Martone and noted philanthropist Maggie Allesee will be honored at the special awards breakfast to be held at the Centerpoint Marriot Hotel starting at 8:00 a.m.

Vattikuti, a native of India, founded Complete Business Solutions, Inc. (CBSI); in 1985 with just five employees. "Today" CBSI, now called Covansys, is a global consulting and technology services company with more than 8,000 employees in offices worldwide. Vattikuti has donated $40 million to establish breast and prostate cancer centers at Henry Ford and Beaumont Hospitals. He has also worked with Focus Hope to develop an IT training curriculum for Detroit area students.

Allesee, who is married to Detroit radio and television personality Bob Allison, is the consummate philanthropist and civic leader who has given millions of dollars over the years to a wide variety of projects. Her generosity has resulted in the Maggie Allesee Department of Dance at Wayne State University, the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography at Florida State University and the Maggie Allesee Hospice for Quality of Life.

Her other charitable interests include the Max M. Fisher Music Center, Artrain USA, Oakland University, Michigan Opera Theater and Women's Survival Center. Allesee was also selected as Style Magazine's 1st Annual Volunteer of the Year.

Martone has distinguished himself as an agent for change. His award winning "Courageous Decisions" program has raised awareness of the potentially fatally consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol. The program challenges young people to make the right choices when it comes to drinking and driving.

Martone also established the "Courts in Schools" program which gives kids a close up and personal look at the criminal justice system. He literally takes his courtroom into the classroom to conduct real court hearings with real defendants and real outcomes.

"All three of these truly outstanding citizens have made Oakland County one of America’s premiere locations in which to live, work, play and raise a family," Patterson said. "They have enriched the quality of life for literally thousands of people through their extraordinary generosity."
