Oakland County Rated Among the Top Digital Counties in America

Pontiac, MI, July 25, 2006 -- Oakland County has been named the fourth most digitally advanced county in America for cities with populations of 500,000 or more.  The honor was bestowed upon Oakland by the Center for Digital Government, in an annual study conducted in conjunction with the National Association of Counties (NACo).

All 3,000 plus counties in the nation were invited to participate in the 2006 Digital County Survey.  Entrants were rated on more than 100 measurements and data points covering such areas as online delivery, infrastructure, architecture and governance models.

"This survey just confirms what weve known all along, that Oakland County has established itself as a national leader in the development and implementation of cutting edge technology to better serve its citizens, communities and businesses," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

The survey's top digital counties will be honored at a national awards ceremony which will coincide with NACo's national conference in Chicago next month.
