Quake on the Lake Returns to Pontiac Lake for Seventh Exciting Year
Pontiac, MI, June 8, 2006 More than 70 of the nations best inboard hydroplane racers are expected to compete this year when the 7th Annual Quake on the Lake returns to the serene and beautiful shores of Pontiac Lake. This years event will be held on Saturday, July 22nd and Sunday, July 23rd from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area which is located near M-59 and Williams Lake Road in the White Lake/Waterford Township area.
"Quake has proven to be a terrific fun-filled, family oriented event that provides great entertainment for everyone regardless of age," said event chairman Dale Hampshire.
Since it's inception in 2000, Quake on the Lake has attracted nearly 100,000 people, 30,000 of whom attended last year alone. In the last six years 13 American Power Boat Association (APBA) records have been established in nine different racing classes, making Pontiac Lake one of the fastest one-mile courses in the entire country.
"Quake on the Lake, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Arts, Beats & Eats are Oakland County's premiere summertime signature events," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "I encourage everyone to make plans now to attend all three of these wonderful outdoor spectaculars."
This year's Quake on the Lake will also feature the latest and greatest Big 3 vehicle displays along with the Flaming Pistons Classic Car Club showcasing classic vehicles of every make and model. There's also a Family Fun Zone featuring great attractions for kids of all ages including Moonwalks, face painting and much much more.

Admission is $5 for adults. Children 8 years of age and younger will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Rainbow Connection, a 501(c)(3) charity, which grants wishes to children with terminal or life threatening illnesses.
