Oakland County Web Site Gets New Name, New Look

Pontiac, Michigan, (February 8, 2006) -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson announced at his 2006 State of the County address that the Oakland County Web site has a new look and a new name: www.oakgov.com.

The new name is more recognizable, easier to remember, and reflects the County's reputation as a leader in delivering eGovernment services to the increasingly savvy technological community where Automation Alley was founded. The new layout of the County's Web site includes an updated "look and feel" to illustrate Oakland County's place at the forefront of progressive online government.

"Conducting business online is an absolute necessity for many Oakland County citizens," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "As we continue to develop a technology-enabled community in which everyone can access County government resources at any time and from anywhere, our Web site also continues to evolve to better serve the public."

The refreshed site includes features new to the County's online presence, such as online surveys, a multimedia archive of audio and video files, and photo galleries. Surveys will help the County collect feedback from site visitors, while the galleries showcase Oakland County's diversity and quality of life.

The decision to refresh and rename the County's Web site is a response to the site's tremendous growth since its initial launch. Four years ago, the County's Web site had 2,000 web pages. Today it has more than 15,000 pages, including thousands of publications and forms and numerous online services.
