Oakland County Resumes Seasonal Flu Clinic With Limited Supply

Pontiac, Michigan -- Kathy Forzley, Manager/Health Officer, Oakland County Health Division, announces the resumption of the county's seasonal flu vaccination clinic on November 23, 2009. The supply of vaccine, however, is limited.

"We are pleased the CDC and the manufacturer have released a supply of seasonal flu vaccine," stated Forzley.  "We have received 4,750 doses, which is the remainder of our order.  This allows us to reopen our seasonal flu clinic for Oakland County residents in combating the spread of seasonal flu in the community."

The seasonal flu vaccination clinic opens Monday, November 23, 2009 and is anticipated to run through Wednesday, November 25, 2009, though limited supply may result in closing the clinic before Wednesday. The seasonal flu vaccine clinic will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday ONLY at the North Oakland Health Center, located at 1200 North Telegraph Rd., Building 34 East, Pontiac, Michigan 48341. Seasonal flu shots are $10 and payment options include only Cash, Medicaid or Medicare.

Plans are also under way to conduct additional 2009 H1N1 mass vaccination clinics in the community, after the Thanksgiving holiday and will be announced shortly.

The Health Division reminds residents that flu vaccine is not recommended for people who are allergic to eggs or flu vaccine; had a serious reaction to flu vaccine in the past; previously developed Guillain-Barre Syndrome within six weeks of getting a flu shot; or who have a fever.
