Oakland County Health Division H1N1 Flu Clinic a Success

Pontiac, MI – Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson announces that the county Health Division's first public H1N1 clinics in Farmington Hills and Clarkston on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 were a great success.

"I am so impressed with our Health Division employees and volunteers. Their planning and their hard work made the clinics a great success," says Patterson. "I also want to thank all the agencies and groups that helped out Saturday. Without their efforts, we could not have reached our goals for success."

Patterson recognizes the following agencies and organizations for their contributions: Oakland County Health and Human Services Division, Oakland Community College, Clarkston Community Schools, Oakland County Sheriff, Farmington Hills Police, Farmington Hills Fire Department and Community Emergency Response Team.

The success of the clinics also rests with the public, according to Oakland County Health Division Director George Miller. "The patience of the general public is a big piece of our success," says Miller. "Our Health Division employees have been practicing this for five years - and today, they ran things as smoothly and efficiently as possible."

Oakland County Health Division served more than 12,000 southeast Michigan residents total. Estimates are that a nurse gave an H1N1 vaccine every five seconds at each location.

Oakland County will continue its school-based clinics when the Centers for Disease Control releases more vaccine to the Health Division. For further updates on future H1N1 vaccination clinics, stay tuned to the Health Division website: http://www.oakgov.com/health.
