Pontiac, Michigan -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson announces that the Fiscal Services Division of the Department of Management and Budget has won the top achievement award in government financial reporting for the 18th year in a row. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Fiscal Services the Certificate of Achievement for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). "The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment," a GFOA spokesperson says. People who want to invest money in Oakland County study this report. It discloses the county's finances in full detail to anyone who wants to review them. "Ensuring someone will invest their money in Oakland County is a team effort across the board," says Patterson. "The months of hard work by the Fiscal Services team not only pays off with this award, but with investors who keep bringing their money to Oakland County." Tim Soave, manager of the Fiscal Services Division recognizes team members for a job well-done: Penny Cremer, Nancy Fournier, Lynn Sonkiss, Janet Ogden, Diane Creguer and all team members. "It really does speak well of the effort my staff puts into this," says Soave. "They do care about the product. It may be 18 in a row for us, but it is a very tough award to get."
