Two-Year Study Identifies Top Jobs and Skills Needed for Employment at Emerging Sectors® Companies

WATERFORD, MI - August 18, 2009 - Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson on Thursday will hold a news conference to release the results of the Skills Needs Assessment Project. The news conference is set for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, in the first floor lobby of the Executive Office Building, 2100 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford. The report identifies the top jobs by sector that Emerging Sectors companies need in the future, the skills necessary to obtain those jobs and gives educators and employers a road map to develop courses and certification programs that prepare the work force of the future.
Patterson is expected to be joined by representatives from Baker College, Lawrence Technological University, Oakland Community College, Oakland Schools, Oakland University and Walsh College. The study was conducted by EdEn Inc. and commissioned by the Oakland County Business Roundtable Workforce & Education Committee and funded by Oakland County's Workforce Development Board and the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth.
