Project Linus Quilts
PONTIAC, MI January 14, 2003 -- Oakland County's Office of Arts, Culture & Film is exhibiting quilts made by elementary students of Sandberg Elementary School in Waterford for the Project Linus. The quilts will be on display in the Oakland County Galleria from January 14 through February 27, 2003.
Project Linus is a national, nonprofit organization that distributes homemade blankets to ill and traumatized children all over the world. In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, the children of Sandberg Elementary School in Waterford made blankets for the children of the Firefighters in the New York area. These two blankets were selected for display to promote Project Linus.
Oakland County residents are invited to drop off new, handmade blankets for children at the Oakland County Laboratory, located in the Medical Care Facility. For more information, please contact the Lab at (248) 858-1310 or Lori, the Oakland County Area Project Linus Coordinator, at (248) 618-9523.
The Oakland County Galleria is located on the second floor of the Executive Office Building -- 34 East, 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac. The Galleria is open from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
