Oakland County's Department of Information Technology Earns National Award for Internet Web site
PONTIAC, Michigan (September 30, 2002) -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson today announced that the county's Department of Information Technology has received an e-Governance Award of Distinction from the National Academy of Public Administration, Joint Center for e-Governance for the Oakland County Internet Web site (http://www.oakgov.com).
"This is an extraordinary honor for Oakland County, especially the hardworking and talented individuals at Information Technology who developed and implemented the web site," Patterson. "This award recognizes Oakland County's continuing leadership role nationally in the development and use of technology."
The Oakland County internet web site was launched this past January and represents the first step in providing a one-stop "portal" site for e-government services.
Patterson says the web site and its content management system was designed to simplify access to county government by integrating department and agency content into a single, cohesive site.
